"Portland, and our literary community at large, lost a beautiful human last night. If you knew Julie Mancini, you were one of the lucky ones. We were doubly lucky: Julie was a friend and colleague to many of us. Julie made everyone around her feel good, and feel seen, known and loved for their best selves. She also helped create the Portland that we know and love through her work founding the organization that became Literary Arts. We have no doubt that Powell’s, our literary world, and Portland would not be who we all are today without her efforts. Julie leaves an immense void with her passing, but she lives on in the vitality of these communities we share together."
