There are 8 billion people in the world. 4 billion had at some point a crush on Julie Mancicni. I was one of those.

We worked together as part of the startup team of the Portland Business Journal. I was somewhere in my mid-20s, on the editorial side, and Julie was in her early 30s in advertising sales. I recall that for one of her birthdays, I told her I had a potential client who wanted to meet with her. We sat together at a table, then the guy gets out a music player and does his thing as a male stripper. She took it all in stride.

Julie was a lovely, strong, dynamic, wonderful woman with a heart of gold.
