Erin Boberg Doughton

In the early years of PICA we shared an office with Literary Arts and I made it a habit of visiting Julie's office almost daily. Although I'm sure she was busy with a million other people and things she always took the time for a visit and chat about whatever was going on in my 20 something life. How did she possibly have the time and energy for that? I wish I could ask her now - I bet she would reply with a wicked one-liner. Once she lent me her van to drive up to Vancouver BC to pick up a sculpture. I figured the least I could do was to return the van clean and fill the tank. She raved for weeks about how "classy" I was for doing that, as if I was the one who had done her the favor and not the other way around. Julie gave me many gifts and favors over the years and every time made it seem like somehow I was the one doing the giving. What a class act.
