Julie was my beloved sister, Johanna’s friend, and my niece Christa’s fairy Godmother. She saw Christa’s potential and put a rocket engine behind it. That was enough to put Julie on my Rock Star list and the reason why Julie officiated at Christa & Jake’s wedding. But when Julie used her magic to get a book signing at Powell’s for “The Empathy Effect” I realized that her passion to help was limitless. The place filled up and so did my heart. And at the reception iit was Julie who passed around pencils she’d brought inscribed with “EMPATHY RULES”. Empathy to see and celebrate others was Julie’s Superpower.
