Pearls. I has the gift of getting to know Julie while at Bora architects when LA and PICA shared our space early on. Thank you Pat Harrington. Julie - such a great human, woman, example of a way to be in the world - so strong, vulnerable and accepting of the perfectly imperfect. I was really affected by her. She was so encouraging as I had my two boys, balance of career and family, reinventing myself, as she had done so many times. Years later she persuaded me, as only she could, to help with some pro bono design work for College Possible. SO fun working with her. At one point we had a good scheme, I told her emphatically - look no further, this is the only way to lay this out. She just laughed at me and made me laugh at myself. One day she sent me an email: subject line ‘you are’, open the email and it reads ‘unfucking believable’ in 288 point type (no exclamation point). Love
