So here’s my little anecdote, it includes her modesty about all the attention, her attitude, and just shining her love back at me. At the risk of pissing off the good people of Portland, here goes…

A couple years back I wrote Julie a note because I’d heard she’d won some community award. Her reply:

“oh my dear god. this made me teary.. And AK.. you do know that the award is made up.  It's just made up and the town is small.  ok ok ok.. and let me also say..”

…And then she went on to say something loving and thoughtful about my family.
