I sought advice from Julie at several important stages of my life. Those conversations were always inspirational, and they were also just fun for an Aussie living in the US who missed the use of the word fuck in every day sentences. Of course she gave great advice - she was Julie fucking Mancini. When I started working at Oregon Community Foundation and had the privilege of working with the amazing Kirsten Kilchenstein, who Julie ADORED, every time I saw Julie she would pull me aside like she was about to tell me a secret and then say "Pip, you won the fucking lottery working with Kirsten". She is right - and I felt like I won the fucking lottery knowing her. The lights got dimmer in the world without Julie shining among us.
