Jan Krause Green

Julie was one of my college roommates and we’ve been friends ever since. During that time, she has supported, pushed, and encouraged me. Also she has told me to fuck off more than once – although the first time was when we were much younger, and she didn’t say fuck yet. She used some polite words to explain that I had really pissed her off and she thought I was a jerk for doing it. She was probably right, or at least, partially right. It’s a long story.
Here’s a short one: We used to do a lot of things together while at BC. We double dated, hung out with the same people and spent lots of time on campus together. One day she told me it bothered her that people always said Jan and Julie, and she imagined that Jan was in all caps and Julie was lower case. I knew she was wrong. JULIE was the one in all caps. I had no doubt then, and I have no doubt now. And that is as it should be. If ever there was an all-caps person it was JULIE, even before she was Julie Fucking Mancini.
