Julie was everyone's best friend and confidante. Even people Julie couldn't stand thought she was their best friend. She gave undivided (and entertaining) attention to every conversation, and she sucked all the information out of each encounter to because she needed to know how the world worked and how others navigated. I met her in 1972. You may wonder how she grew over the years to such a presence. Remember, her many projects strengthened our community, she met all those writers and read all those books! I can't imagine a world without Julie and I'll grieve her passing 'til I die.
